On Feb. 10, 1970, ZZ Top played their first show with what is their now iconic lineup of Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard.
The original line-up, which was created in Houston in 1969, consisted of Billy Gibbons, organist Lanier Greig and drummer Dan Mitchell. Most of the concerts with the original line up were at small local venues like high school graduation dances.
From their web site: “Yes, “That Little Ol’ Band from Texas,” the baddest blues-rock trio ever to ooze from Houston, cooler than a polar bear’s toenails, began its life together at a meeting hall off U.S. 90 of all places.”

Have been a Knight of Columbus for many years found it pretty cool that Knights in Beaumont Texas gave ZZ Top their start in their hall.Brings a smile to me every time I think of it. Would have loved to hear some of the comments from some of the old timers at the hall.
