The Marin Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium seats 2,000 and hosts a variety of major events ranging from the Marin Symphony to Marcel Marceau; from the Peking Acrobats to Tommy Tune; from Marin Speakers Series to The Beach Boys.
Parts of Peter Frampton’s album “Frampton Comes Alive!” were recorded here in 1975.
The Grateful Dead recorded their album “In the Dark” here in 1987. The Dead decided to record the tracks for the album in a darkened theater (“In the Dark”) without an audience, on a stage with the same lighting they would using on the next tour. The idea was to capture the feel they had for the songs as if they were playing them to a live audience.
