The Monterey County Fairgrounds has hosted the world renowned Monterey Jazz Festival since 1958. The annual Monterey Bay Blues Festival is held here as well. This location is probably best remembered for the Monterey Pop Festival that was held here on June 16-18, 1967.
This concert helped launch the carriers of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Otis Redding.
