The Sonoma County Fairgrounds is a fairground and exhibition center located in Santa Rosa, California. It is where the annual Sonoma County fair takes place and other events throughout the year.
The fairgrounds feature a horse-racing track and jockey club, a golf course, several open-air amphitheaters, and multiple buildings. The largest hall at the fairgrounds is Grace Pavilion, a 40,500-square-foot indoor arena which can seat 4,400 people. It houses exhibits during the fair and is used throughout the year for concerts, fights, and other events.

I remember seeing Elvin Bishop, It’s a Beautiful Day and Santana there in ’69 I think. The Hells Angels rode their motorcycles into the pavilion while Santana played and it was like a stampede of people trying to get out of the way. Spooky to say the least
In the summer of ’71 Quicksilver was supposed to play, but didn’t show, so an unheard of band called the Doobie Brothers filled in. They rocked it. Also a band with Wayne Ceballos (Edge City Band?) played. Elvin Duncan of Santa Rosa and Cloverdale rock fame got tickets for us and the Big “E” spoke with Ceballos.
