The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium

The Civic Auditorium was renamed in 1992 following Bill Graham’s death. At the entrance are six bronze disks embedded into the sidewalk, each representing a Bay Area musician or personality who has been acknowledged for lifetime achievement in contributing to an original sound in American music. The collection is recognized as the Bay Area Music Awards Walk of Fame.

On October 26, 1957 Elvis Presley opened his West Coast tour here following the premier of Jailhouse Rock in Memphis. On May 14, 1965 The Rolling Stones, The Byrds, Beau Brummels, Paul Revere and the Raiders, and the Vejtables performed here. On June 4, 1966 The Jefferson Airplane lit the place up and on March 21, 1967 Eric Burdon and the Animals appeared here as well.
