So much happened here over the years….. Janis Joplin played her final gig with Big Brother. The Who performed their entire rock opera Tommy and Eric Clapton played his final shows as the lead guitar for Delaney and Bonnie here.
In 1969, while both of them were touring with their respective groups, Keith Emerson met and jammed with Greg Lake here and in June of 1970 Carl Palmer joined up with them to become Emerson, Lake and Palmer.
A movie was made about the last days of the Fillmore West called “Fillmore: The Last Days” The final night featured Tower of Power, Creedence Clearwater and Santana.
It closed on July 4, 1971

The Fillmore West closed on July 4th 1971and on July 8th 1972 was reopened as the Resurrection Ballroom by Clint Wilson a producer at Paramount Records (Andy Kim). This is a small listing of of shows that included Buddy Miles/Santana, Jefferson Airplane and others:

Wow ! What a great time and thrill just going there as a teenager, coming from a small town about a hundred miles away. I still have an original ticket that was purchased for a New Years performance by several San Francisco bands , Jefferson Airplane , Grateful Dead , Quick Messenger Service Saturday. December 31. 1966 , a. Bill. Graham. Present. Doors opened at 9pm till 9am the next day with breakfast served.—– Fillmore Auditorium at Fillmore and Geary ,San Francisco . The ticket was purchased for a friend of mine a class mate, he become seriously ill. He still owes the cost of the ticket. $5.00
