Zellerbach Hall, often referred to as Zellerbach Auditorium, is a multi-venue performance facility on the campus of University of California, Berkeley built in 1968. It was constructed thanks to a major donation by Isadore Zellerbach and Jennie Zellerbach, who gave a $1 million gift toward its completion.

The main auditorium’s stage and backstage facilities are fully equipped for a wide range of events — from concerts and musicals to theater, dance, opera, spoken word, and more. The Playhouse offers a flexible stage/audience configuration, allowing different stage types (proscenium, thrust, etc.) depending on the production needs.

In 1984 Frank Zappa Premiered his “A Zappa Affair” here along with the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra.

Christine McVie’s “Songbird“, from Fleetwood Mac’s hit record “Rumours” was recorded here during an all-night session when their producer felt it should have a concert hall’s ambience.
